LADY PACKA /Vim records -Dirty Drop /Seville SPAIN 1.First of
all lets talk a little bit about the past. When and how have you started to get
involved with electronic music? Which were the things that influenced you in
order to get involved to? Hello there,
I started around 1989 when I was the manager of the most famous club in
Seville. One day our resident dj didn’t come, so every
single worker of the club was djing for a while. The audience really liked my
selection so that was my first session ever play. That was the beginning and a lot of things came after that. 2.You’re nominated as the best female Breaks/Tech Spanish dj. Let us know some
things about that. When and how have you started djing? Do you play strictly
breakbeat or do you mix in other genres? Well, I was
nominated as a best female Tech-House dj this year but I already have been
awarded as the best Spanish female breakbeat dj including DjOwners and Spanish breaks
awards. My djing sessions includes Techno, Minimal and
Breaks styles. That’s the main reason of having two different names/profiles
while I’m djing: LADY PACKA for Breaks, Tech-Breaks and Electro-Breaks and LADY
K for Techno, Minimal and Tech-House style. 3.Where is
your favourite place to play so far in Spain and why? Do you play quite often
in other countries? I used to
play all over Spain, and is really complicated and difficult to choose one
single place but for sure I must say that the favourites places are Ibiza,
Barcelona and wherever in Andalucia (my born place Seville). I want to keep my
interest in places where new trends are welcomed. I have played several times
in Germany (Mayday), Colombia and I will play in Italy and Bulgaria soon. 4.How did
you get your dj/producer name Lady Packa? This is really
very simple…….my name is Paca (Francisca) and when I started djing I was the
only girl around so I thought that if I write Lady before my name could help
the audience know that a girl is going to dj. So easily and simple the name LADY PACKA was born….. 5.Spanish
Breaks scene is one of the strongest and biggest in the world. Can u please
tell us what’s happening in Spain now with
Breaks? That’s
true. The Spanish breaks scene is really strong and one of the best in the
whole world. Every single weekend you can find many international dj’s playing
in Spain, there are a lot of massive parties where thousands of people are
always pleased and enthusiastic with music. 6.Are there
any special Spanish Breaks producers that we must be aware of? The
majority of Spanish breaks producers are located in Andalucia, in the south of
Spain. This is the place where most of the people are like this style of music.
I prefer not to mention any specific names of the producers because I don’t
want to forget anyone…
I’m
actually more into production now……I’m producing tracks for over 20
international labels, minimal, techno and breaks styles. With all that global
crisis it is quite difficult to dj very often…….less work and less money to get
paid. 8.When and
how have you started producing? What influenced and inspired you in order to
produce music? About eight
years ago I was kind of experimenting with 3 tracks, then I went to Aquasky
Studio (UK) to finish that material with their help. Also ΚI recorded a Κlive mix cd including hits from TCR, the great
english label owned by Rennie Pilgrim. At the same time I have started working
with the Italian producer Luca Daddi since 2007. I have lots of influences as a
dj and also as a consumer, I like classical music, soul, funky, etc and of
course all those influences affects the selection I choose into production or
djing. Another thing that’s really important for both producing or djing is the
type of the audience that are going to listen to the stuff you produce or play.
After 20 years involved in music world I think that I know a little bit about
what people like more…. 9.What does
your studio consist of? I have my
own studio at home (at the penthouse). I use to work with vinyl (I never liked
cd) so I have two Technics, a mix table, some monitors, and sometimes I use the
tractor pro as well…. 10. What
are you using to produce nowadays? Logic audio? Live ? Cubase? Reason and
Logic 11.What
releases have you got so far as Lady Packa, in which labels, and let us know if
there are any forthcoming singles or remixes that we must be aware of? As LADY
PACKA I work with two different labels with all my confidence. Some other
labels offer me to work with them but I’m very faithful to the ones that trust
and choose. Additionally both these labels are very professional ones and I’m
really satisfied. I’ve got
already out 2 EP’s………one with V.I.M. Records, Greece and another one with DIRTY
DROP Records, Italy, called “DON’T LET THE FEELING GO!/DESTINATION PARIS” and “ELEKTRONIK
PIPE EP”. Original tracks of mine backed with cool remixes by well known
international artists. Both singles gained great support and response from the
audience. In December of 2009 I’m going to release my second EP for V.I.M.
Records…..another 2 songs backed with remixes by MAELSTROM and DIGITAL BREAKS
FOUNDATION. Soon I will release and some remixes of mine to other artists also
for V.I.M.. I have plans to release plenty of singles and remixes for the new
year!
12.Did
inspiration comes easily to you or do you have to strive for it? What’s inspiring you today? I must say
that usually both happens. Sometimes inspiration comes easily and sometimes
very difficult. I used to work with a lot of pressure and not so much time so
inspiration usually comes quite quickly while I’m working… 13.Are
there any plans for future works, dj gigs etc. Yes I will
play in December at the Auditorium in Seville with more than 40 djs, big names
like The Plump Djs, Dj Quest, Mutiny, N.r.g, Bill Vega & New Decade among
others, in 3 different stages. A few international dates will be confirmed soon
in Naples, Rome, Sicily and Perrugia, all in Italy, also Bulgaria and Germany
apart from a bunch of other dates in Spain 14.Who’s currently rocking the Breaks world and why? My opinion
is that these guys are the most representative, and the ones I consider more
similar to my taste……………Alex Metric, Dilemn, Maelstrom, Myagi, The Scientifics,
Lee combs, Elite Force, Rennie Pilgrem ... 15.Can you
please give us your all-time Breaks TOP10? Is
impossible to put all my best in only 10 positions, with 20 years in music...Here
