MOSTON & MALENTE return to Splank! for their second single with the label and this one's a blinder. Crisp 4/4 electro beats with a booming kick and wide hand claps, killer vocal hook and mad synth action. Roadtests at the duo's gigs have seen crowds from Canada to Siberia go absolutely mental over "F*CKED UP"... check it out! The original version of "F*CKED UP" is also featured on Malente's huge new DJ-MIX/ Best Malente-Remixes 2 CD "WHOW" (Unique). On the remix, big newcomers Stupid Fresh deliver a fidget house workout that should go down well with fans of Switch, Crookers or Hervé. Ramping up the synths in a ravey vibe, and adding a bass full of wobble, squelch and downright dirtiness, Stupid Fresh twist the track in all sorts of ways, peaking in a big bass hook pay-off towards the end. Releasedate is the 26th of november.

TOM REAL & THE ROGUE ELEMENT ‘MACHINE’ KLAUS ‘HEAVYWEIGHT’ HILL ‘GURNFACE’ Taken from the forthcoming Passenger album ‘This Way Up’
The third EP to be lifted from Passenger Records’ brilliant new mix album ‘This Way UP’ the debut breaks mix album by drum n bass legend DJ Friction featuring 14 brand new and unreleased tracks comes in the shape of the fearsome double-header from Tom Real & The Rogue Element and Klaus ‘Heavyweight’ Hill, we’re not ashamed to say it’s BIG.
Tom Real & The Rogue Element have been producing together for nearly three years, signed as a duo to Functional Records and Ben Rogue to Exceptional, their singles such as ‘Feel My…’ and ‘Resistance 06 / He’s So Hot Right Now’ have drawn critical claim from all corners. Beginning 2007 by winning ‘Best Remix’ at Breakspoll for their remix of Noisia’s massive ‘Gutterpump’ (Passenger / Skint) as well as Ben Rogue’s win as ‘Best Producer’ at the same awards has seen both artists take 2007 by storm. Having remixed Functional Records 50th release ‘Shoe Monkey’ by Spoon Wizard and also ‘Trip Like Me’ for American breakers The Crystal Method, the duo have DJ’d all over the globe and leading festivals such as Glastonbury, Glade, Wildchild Outdoors and many more. ‘Machine’ is Tom & Rogue’s first single since winning their Breakspoll awards and with it’s stripped back, tech-meets-electro-breaks edge is simply like something you’ve never heard before.

NAPT – Contrast Part 3 - Coming to Montreal soon! |

A: N-Funk AA: It’s Over Label: Sub Frequency Funk Release Date: July 2007
Following the huge success of their 'Get Back' release (featuring the legendary Skibadee), the brash young breakbeateers NAPT are back with the third instalment of their super soulful Contrast series.
This time round, the lads take the opportunity to bring you a whole new subgenre: N-Funk. The rules are simple - the music has to be funky and the artist name has to start with 'N'. Word from the breakbeat rumour mill has it that several top artists are considering changing their names in order to be admitted into this exclusive club. Nanton Warriors, Nump DJs and Neat Katie are all due to release in early autumn. You heard it here first, folks.
The N-Funk theme is one gargantuan monster of a track, and something of a change in direction for the north Londoners. As ever, the beats are elephantine (even more so than usual!), but gone are the sweet melodies and perfectly-tuned riffs that are usually so prominent. In their place: big, fat, dirty, sweaty, uncompromising and immoral BASS, along with equally nasty synths and effects. Dissonance is the new harmony; cacophony the new symphony. Believe us, this is unadulterated and uncomplicated funk to tear up the dancefloor!
Flip over for It's Over - another enormous track, this time more in keeping with the soulful NAPT tradition, with pleasingly rotund beats, a thoroughly addictive bassline, how-the-hell-did-they-come-up -with-that-sound synths and subtle effects.
Another great release. Watch out for the fourth and final disc in the series later this year.
